About Our Office
The Law Offices of Edwin Freedman were established in 1982. Mr. Freedman earned his law degree at Rutgers University School of Law-Newark, NJ in 1973 and was admitted to the bar in New York. He practised law for 3 years in the New York City Family Courts, first as an Assistant Corporation Counsel, later as an attorney for the Bureau of Child Welfare.
Ed Freedman immigrated to Israel in 1978. After clerking 18 months in order to qualify for the Israeli Bar, he was admitted in 1980. His law office is located in the center of Tel-Aviv.
The main focus of the Law Office of Edwin Freedman is the field of Family Law. The office has a particular expertise in matters involving international disputes regarding child abduction, visitation and custody. Mr. Freedman was actively involved in lobbying for Israel’s ratifiction of the 1980 Hague Convention on Civil Aspects of International Child Abduction. Since its ratification, the law office has represented many clients both in Israel and abroad who filed claims under the Convention.
As a member of the International Academy of Family Lawyers, Mr. Freedman was an observer at the 2nd-6th Special Conferences which are held every 4 years at the Hague to discuss implementation of the Abduction Convention. Mr. Freedman has also lectured abroad and written .on the Convention
In addition to family law matters, the law offices represents clients in probate of estates and real estate matters. The office has a great deal of experience in the probate of estates in Israel the beneficiaries of which reside abroad. The office maintains a close working relationship with law offices located in North America and Europe in order to facilitate the client’s interests.
